The house martins have gone south and will be back next year. They have been busy all summer and now their nests are left empty. Well, sparrows like to use them. Once I took some time to watch how the parents were feeding their chicks and I made several photos. The nest wasn't very high.
Zooming the image and you can see how the hungry chick is fed.
I kept watching them, parent or parents making rounds to feed the offspring and I was trying to snap as many photos as I could.
Can you imagine how many times the bird has to feed this constantly hungry chick? Well, countless. While the parents are away, the little one poked its head out of the nest.
The nest is not a piece of art. It was made mainly from mud. I saw many house martins gathering around the mud puddle and bringing material to construct their nests. They were fast, fast flying, fast building. One day I saw a nest half destroyed. No idea who did it, but after four or five hours I passed by the same nest and it was again whole.
Here is anotner bird. There were few nests in a row just above the entrance of the post office.

It is hard to make a good, sharp photo of fast flying birds. What I do is keep on shooting and hoping to have some decent one.
And that was all for now. I hope that next year I will have more and better photos of house martins.
