As I promised to show more pictures of the birds I took in Thailand, today I have gathered the images and put them together. I was fortunate to see some new birds and not to budge from the house garden. But let me tell you, the hot weather did not allow to stay outside for long time. I chose early morning, besides then I had some free time to see the regular feathered visitors.
The first bird I saw - Common Myna. Common by name, perhaps not so interesting for the locals, but for me it was a new bird. Actually I saw and photographed myna when I was in Thailand before and more precisely in Koh Lipe.
But the other myna - the Great Myna - I saw for the first time. I loved its spiky crest, looked rather funny.😀
Like any other bird I encounter, I am curious to read about and to learn something new. So, mynas are in starling family. Well, that explains a lot in my humble opinion. Starling can perform diffrent sounds and to imitate other birds as well as human whisle for instance. I knew that mynas are also great when it comes to imitate sounds and even words and phrases. When I was little, I loved to read the books by Gerald Durrell. In one of his books, I read for the first time about the myna bird and how it could say some words just in the right moment.
There were other birds in the garden, which I will show you in another post. But look who I found - the Speckled Jim. 😀

Anyways any pigeon with speckles my hubby and I saw, we named it Speckled Jim. So, why not the Thai pigeon to be named the same?
