What an idyllic picture. A dog and a cat sleeping peacefully together.
This is Penny, my Chinese Crested hairless dog and the little George.
Penny did not tolerate the other two cats. She is never happy when any of them is around and she is rather nervious. When Furry or Blue, especially the latter decides to disturb her, receives a snap. For Penny social distance is very important and she does not like the cats to come close to her and interupt her nap. She even may refuse to eat if a cat is close to her.
But George is completely different. He loves to cuddle and always seeks a company. Very persistent to become friend with Penny. Slowly he will crawl and reach the dog. When she is washed, Penny starts her bed dance, rolling and rubbing herself on the blanket. George like self respecting copy cat is rolling next to her.
Somehow Penny got less nervious and if I am there, she feels safe and confident. Letting George to sleep next her and patting her with his paws is such a sweet image.
Of course they heard the clicking noise of the camera and opened their eyes.
George still twisted stretches. When a cat shows his/her belly it is a sign he/she feels safe.
Look at these two - best buddies.
As long as Geogre is not tempted to do something silly, Penny will let him be so close. He is still young and he is growing and soon will be as big as the dog and maybe even bigger. But I would be happy if they will stay best friends.
