Well I'm still processing holday pics from last week!
There is a very important family reason why I have been delayed, but secondly and also completely my fault, taking over 2,000 images in a bird hide on rapid fire!
Anyway a segway, after leaving Center Parcs we did a little road trip last Friday through the lake district and arrived at Bowness on Windermere for a couple of hours. We spent a little time trying to find somewhere to eat and settled on a small cafe next to where boat trips were departing from and arriving to. While waiting for our food I noticed the below gentleman through the window. I was struck by the beard and weathered appearace so grabbed a couple of phone shots which didn't do him justice. I got the impression he was a maintenance / saftey guy that did't actually take part in the tours, so when I saw him walk back down the walkway, I sat waiting with my camera (on 8% battery) for his return and snapped the below, better resolution shot as he returned. I thought he had the features for a good portrait shot and whished I could shoot him in a studio with lighting and smoke!
After we'd finished eating we headed out for a walk and I took the below shots on my phone of the 'beach' area and boats (The camera had died by now after getting switched on in my bag and I hadn't noticed the day before). I do have to sing the virtues of phone cameras here, especially as I work for a mobile phone company. The computational work they do to give their 'best' idea of what a shot should look like is pretty good. I would always prefer my actual camera, but for a point and shoot, they've come a long way..
I'm becoming a sucker for people shots too and grabbed a couple of cheeky ones of the below little girl. I'm liking these shots as they're real and not posed which I think is always the best type of shot..
As a photographer I try to mix what I do in my shots, I've done still life, some macro work, lightpainting and I enjoy a good model shoot. If you'd like to check out any of my other work I'm on Facebook, or you can find me on Instagram under neilru75
Thanks very much for looking
Kind Regards, Neil
