Hello! And Welcome to I Want to Draw You!
Today is the fifth episode of a week long series where I will be drawing members of the Steemit and Dtube community. The members chosen were the first 8 people to comment on my video announcing this challenge. It's an opportunity for me to develop my skills and also connect more intimately with the wonderful beings in this community.
The fifth comment was from @afrinsultana. Afrin has only recently started following me but has been wonderfully engaging from the very beginning. She is from Bangladesh and has shared with me that the most important things to her are her family and friends. She also wants to study law at university but says that this is currently unavailable to her. I really hope that maybe one day she will have this opportunity. I find it pretty amazing that Steemit has allowed me to connect with so many people from all over the world and I am grateful knowing that these connections may have never formed without it.
Today was the first day I was so motivated just to jump into the piece. Maybe keeping this consistent practice is doing me good? Maybe it was the caffeine!? Either way, I was ready but I had to work fast. As you can see towards the end of the video my lighting situation started to dwindle. Afrin asked if I could draw a picture of us together. This really touched my heart because although we haven't met in person she is very appreciative of the friendship we have created. I used an absolutely beautiful reference photo of her and previous thumbnail of myself. I'm still working on self portraits but I do find it quiet enjoyable to draw myself. The image came out really nicely and I can only hope that one day I will get to meet Afrin in person! My only issue was that I should've learnt from the first time I tried to paint in my sketchbook that the water wasn't going to work well with the paper but with my need to have all the pieces together I remained stubborn. It didn't turn out too bad but I know with the correct paper the blending of watercolours can be more effective.
Thanks for being here and I hope you enjoy!
Biggest love to you!
Sarah. ❤️
