Jammu and Kashmir is the state located in most north of India. Pakistan has its northern territory ("Pak Authorized Kashmir") or parts of the so-called "Azad Kashmir", while China has occupied Aksai Chin. In Jammu and Kashmir, the areas of Jammu (including Tails), Kashmir, Ladakh, Baltistan and Gilgit are included. About 22,236 square kilometers of area and about 1,38,124 square kilometers on the Pakistan occupation of this state. Most of the residents here are Muslim, but there is a great impression of Hindu religion on their lifestyle, customs and culture. The marginal areas of Kashmir are from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sinkiang and Tibet. Kashmir is an important state of India.

Pakistan or the so-called 'Azad Kashmir Government', which was established by Pakistan's direct aid and expectations, has been commissioned in the form of aggressive Western and Northwest Frontier areas. India had presented this case only on 1 January 1948 in the Sangh, but the decision has yet to be resolved. On the other hand, China has also acquired approximately 12,000 square miles of land in Ladakh.
At the time of India's independence, Maharaj Hari Singh was the ruler here, who wanted to keep his principality independent state. The Muslim Conference (later National Conference), led by Sheikh Abdullah, was Kashmir's main political party.
Kashmiri Pandits, Sheikh Abdullah and most of the Muslims of the state wanted Kashmir to merge in India (because India is secular). But it was not tolerated by Pakistan that a majority of Muslim-majority provinces lived in India (this would have caused its two-nation theory to be repressed). For this, in 1947-48, Pakistan invaded the tribal and its pseudo-military in Kashmir and captured a considerable part.
Out of the total population of Jammu and Kashmir, 27.38% people live in urban areas. The total population of the urban areas is 3,433,242, out of which 1,866,185 are male while remaining 1,567,057 are females. In the last 10 years, the urban population has increased by 27.38 percent. Sex ratio in urban areas of Jammu and Kashmir was 840 females per 1000 males. For children (0-6) sex ratio, the figure for urban area was 850 girls per 1000 boys.
The total children living in urban areas of Jammu and Kashmir (0-6 years) were 425,897. In urban areas, 12.41% of the children (0-6) for urban areas, the average literacy rate in Jammu and Kashmir was 77.12%, in which male 83.92% were literate while female literacy was 56.65%. Most of Kashmir is located in the valleys of Chyam, Jhelum and Indus river. Only the rivers of Mujtagh and Karakoram mountains and the uninhabited north and northeast and water of most unknown areas flow towards Central Asia. About three-fourths of the area is located in the valley of the Indus River only. Part of the west of Jammu lies in the valley of the river Ravi.A little northern part of Punjab's flat plain has moved to Jammu region. There are high plateaus and lower hills (Kandi) and plain areas of Kishtwar and Bhaderwah in the Chenai valley. The valley of Jhelum includes the Kashmir Valley, the adjoining hills and the nearby valleys lying between them and the adjacent part of the narrow valley of Baramulla-Kishanganga. In the valley of the Indus river there are Zashkar and Rupshu along with Ladakh region, Baltistan, Aostod and Gilgit areas.
There are many high passes in the semicircular hill region of the north. Near it is the Nanga Parvat (26,182 feet). The highest peak of Panjal Mountain is 15,523 feet high.
