Hello Hive Learners š
This weekās prompt on instincts made me realize something uncomfortable:
We donāt have 1 mind. We have 2. And theyāre always at war.
For years I thought I was āindecisiveā. But I was actually listening to the wrong voice.
Let me explain:
Your brain runs 2 operating systems:
System 1: Instinct - Fast, emotional, ancient. It decides in 0.3 seconds. No data, no proof. Just āsomething feels offā.
System 2: Logic - Slow, analytical, modern. It needs Excel sheets, pros/cons lists, 5-year plans š
Society taught us to worship Logic and mute Instinct. āBe rational. Donāt be emotional.ā
But hereās the twist: Instinct processes millions of data points per second from your past experiences. Logic? Only a few.
Your āgutā is actually a supercomputer. We just forgot how to use it.
Last year I got 2 job offers same week:
"Offer A": Big company. Good salary. Perfect CV material. Logic said YES 100%.
"Offer B": Small startup. Lower pay. Messy office. But my chest felt light when I visited. Instinct whispered āThis is homeā.
I chose Offer A. Logic won the war.
6 months later? Toxic boss. 14hr days. Anxiety. I resigned broken.
Offer B? That company grew 5x last month. My friend who chose it is now team lead.
Lesson: I didnāt lose a job. I lost by ignoring my internal alarm system.
When meeting people, making decisions, or entering rooms...
Ask yourself in the first 3 seconds: āDoes my body feel safe or tense?ā
Body doesnāt lie. Tight chest = danger. Relaxed shoulders = right place.
Iāve used this rule for 1 year. Itās never failed me. Not once.
Because instinct isnāt magic. Itās your subconscious reading micro-expressions, tone, energy that Logic is too slow to catch.
The dangerous part: We gaslight ourselves
The most expensive mistake is saying āIām just overthinkingā when your instinct screams.
That āoverthinkingā is actually your survival software updating you. Ignore it too long and it stops talking. Thatās when people say āI lost my intuitionā.
You didnāt lose it. You muted it.
Hive Learners, letās debate:
Do you think instinct is divine, biological, or just lessons from past pain? And have you ever lost by choosing logic over gut?
Iām reading every comment. Letās upgrade our minds together š
Thanks for this mind-expanding prompt. After this week, Iāll never call my gut ājust a feelingā again.
