Danger of Smoking - The danger of cigarettes and the impact of smoking on health is already included in cigarette packets sold in the market. There mentioned the danger of smoking for health "can cause cancer, heart attack, impotence and pregnancy and fetal disorders".

However, although the dangers of cigarettes and substances contained therein are mentioned packs, there are still many Indonesians who smoke actively. Not just Indonesia, not even the world.

Actually, the war against cigarettes has been done by various individuals individually or institutionally and organization. It is not wrong if on every May 31st the whole world celebrates or campaigns for World No Tobacco Day, or in Indonesia we call it a day without smoke.

Please note that World No Tobacco Day is a member of the World Health Organization-WHO. So, certainly the dangers of smoking is true and not kidding.

Well, before we talk about the dangers of cigarettes, we should first see the reason why smoking is called harmful to health. The point is, let's look at the harmful substances of cigarettes that will interfere with health in every puff of cigarettes.

A. Dangerous substances in cigarettes

  1. Nicotine
    This substance contains opium can cause someone addicted to trus smoking cigarettes

Influence for the human body:
Causing addiction / dependency
Damaging brain tissue
Causing rapid blood to freeze
Hardened artery walls

  1. Tar
    The basic ingredients of making the asphalt that can stick to the lungs and can cause irritation and even cancer

Influence for the human body:
Kill the cells in the bloodstream
Increase the production of mucus in the lungs
Causes lung cancer

  1. Carbon Monoxide
    Gas that can cause heart disease because this gas can bind oxygen in the body.

Influence for the human body:
Binds hemoglobin, so the body is deprived of oxygen
Blocking transport in the blood

  1. Carcinogenic substances
    Influence for the human body:
    It triggers the growth of cancer cells in the body

  2. Irritants
    Littering the airways and air sacs in the lungs
    Causes cough

These harmful foreign substances are substances contained in ASAP cigarettes, and there are 4000 chemicals contained in a cigarette, 40 of which are classified as dangerous substances such as: hydrogen cyanide (HCN), arsenic, ammonia, polonium and carbon monoxide ( CO).

B. Smoking / Smoking Hazards

  1. Heart disease

The danger of smoking for the heart
Cigarettes cause atherosclerosis or hardening of the blood vessels. This condition is a buildup of fatty substances in the arteries, fat and plaque block the blood flow and make the narrowing of blood vessels. This causes heart disease.

The heart must work harder and extra pressure can cause angina or chest pain. If one or more arteries become completely blocked, a heart attack can occur.

The more cigarettes smoked and the longer a person smokes, the greater his chances of developing heart disease or suffering a heart attack or stroke.

  1. Lung disease
    The risk of developing pneumonia, emphysema and chronic bronchitis increases as smoking. This disease is often referred to as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

This lung disease can go on and get worse over time until the person eventually dies of the condition. People 40 years old can get emphysema or bronchitis, but the symptoms will usually be much worse later, according to the American Cancer Society.

  1. Lung cancer and other cancers
    Lung cancer2 has long been associated with the dangers of cigarettes, which can also lead to other cancers such as from the mouth, voice box or larynx, throat and esophagus. Smoking is also associated with kidney, bladder, pancreas, cervical and blood cancer (leukemia) cancers.
