“Gardening is the greatest tonic and therapy a human being can have. Even if you have only a tiny piece of earth, you can create something beautiful, which we all have a great need for. If we begin by respecting plants, it's inevitable we'll respect people.”
– Audrey Hepburn

Reaching 40 years of existence can be threatening to others as a mental health issue will probably occur. Various illnesses will possibly strike and can be alarming and dangerous. I am one of those who suffered health problems however, it is not that serious. Although it is not frightening, I still keep a healthy track of myself to stay healthy as much as possible.

I already have my medication due to my vertigo and as prescribed by the physician, I had undergone a one-month treatment. I’m done with this but if symptoms occur, I need to take my medicines again. Some of the preventions of my illness were done. I have taken herbal medicines which are all-natural, taken from my backyard or I even asked my neighbors’. These are good for my body as they have no negative responses and are beneficial to my recovery.

I have a miracle tree at the back of our house. I used to trim the branches so they won’t grow taller. I was very delighted when it bore fruit for the first time and my excitement was overflowing. Its fruit is similar to a coconut fruit. The juice extracted from the miracle fruit comes with lots of vitamins and has healing power. The juice tastes delicious and aside from this, drinking it is rejuvenating.

I have another therapeutic plant here the blue ternate. Drinking a cup of it may help wipe out cancer and tumors.

The blue ternate drink can be prepared easily. Place the flower into a cup, then add boiling water. Let it stand for 5 minutes, and when the water turns blue add 1 spoon of honey if you desired it to be sweet. Lemon juice can be added too, it depends on your desired taste.

Another medicinal plant that I have here is the lemon tree. Lemon juice contains lots of health benefits. It is rich in vitamin C too. It reduces the risk of cancer, fights acid reflux, helps control weight, lessens kidney problems, and is good for the heart.

I also have a lemongrass plant which is beneficial to our health. It helps relieve pain, it is good to increase sugar levels, and during menstrual flow once taken it can be a good stimulation and has antioxidants.

My backyard garden has a guava tree and its fruit is rich in vitamin C too. My children, my niece, and my nephews used to climb on the branches and were having fun. Happiness can be seen on their faces while they were doing this and is surely an amazing feeling so they can have a break from using gadgets.

The calamansi tree is planted beside our dirty kitchen. It has plenty of fruits, however, they are difficult to reach because it is very tall and thorny. Its fruits are rich in Vitamin C.

Since the prices of vegetables here in our country are increasing, I have used the corner side of my yard by planting my favorite taro. I have grown plenty of these and can have a bountiful fresh harvest in the future.

Urinary tract infection is one of the illnesses that I usually suffered from. To fight against this ailment, I used to drink coconut juice. With my dwarf coconut tree, I can reach the fruits easily if I like to quench my shirts, and is also beneficial to my health.

Coconut water has lots of benefits, it has antioxidants and if we used to drink this will help in preventing stones that might occur in our kidneys.

This dwarf coconut keeps on bearing fruits every weekend we used to prepare buko juice which is very delicious and nutritious. Of all the plants around, this is my favorite. From the roots up to the leaves, they are valuable and important. It is called the tree of life.

Another thing about this dwarf coconut is, if this is planted in our garden we can easily harvest this by hand. Its fruit is expensive if you're going to buy this in the market. If I have visitors at home, one of the best juices that I can serve is the juice from this coconut fruit.
