In this book, Richard Dawkins present an interesting aspect of natural selection : we do not control our genes, they are controlling us, we are just a mortal machine that carries an imorrtal gene. It makes your mom loving you because you need her as a machine to be able to survive, your grandparents loves you even more because that it your mom did her job and you are the one you must carry on. We usually love the healthy person who can help us reproduce... You get the idea 😁.

Now what about the species who are collaborating, like ants, is their alturism behavior contradicts the selfish attitude? Not if we consider the ants society us one big gene machine who bring them together so the gene survive.

I loved the part using the game theory to explain some alturism/selfish behaviors that we see in humains, the prisonnier dilemma as a good example.

The book is well written, of course the theory of evolution knew some changes since 1975 when the book was written, the book doesn't treat the whole theory but just this particularly gene point of view of it, and I think it's really interesting to read.
