Another low key kind of day! I got my act together today and finally finished a welding job that I've had in the shop for months. Guess I got tired of beating myself up for not doing it.
These parts (everything you make when you're a maker of things is called a part) are tubes filled with sand to hold down a canopy for my friends that make sculptures and go to art shows. They brought me the job a while ago, and I just haven't done it. I guess I'm kinda depressed and lazy and uninspired for anything welding related lately. I was breathing great til I started welding and plasma cutting, then it got worse for a while. All better now, so I'm thinking there's a correlation between industrial fumes and smoke and my not feeling great.
When I went to deliver the parts to my friends across town, their mother was out in the garden tending the irises. They ended up gifting me about a dozen trees, all redbuds and pecans! Redbud trees are nitrogen fixers that make pretty flowers, and pecan trees grow up to make pecans! Free food! I was late to dinner, but I got free trees, so...
Pecans are a good succession tree for oaks, and red buds are good early forest nitrogen fixers. It's a perfect match for our yard and projects!
I happened across a good deal on a gun part I've been looking for. Since the crypto is rolling in decently enough to replenish the money I was gonna use on rabbits, I went ahead and bought it. Score!
Scrolling my feed today, @sustainablyyours has a cool video where they got free strawberry plants! That got me to thinking that a new strawberry patch might be a good idea, and I've added it to the list of things to do. Along with a rabbit cage and a new chicken coop. So hopefully the rain lets up enough tomorrow that I can get to work on that. It's been a rainy few days, which is awesome for resting, but not so awesome for getting projects done.
Happy Monday y'all!
Love from Texas
