Since today is the 3rd of the month, a lot of disabled people will be receiving their disability checks. Those checks are not only for people with physical disabilities, but they're also for people who have mental challenges. The first time I heard someone refer to a check for a mentally ill person as a "crazy check", I thought it was a very insensitive and offensive thing to say. It's not that I am always trying to be politically correct, it's just that some things people say just shows hows incredibly inconsiderate they are of other people's feelings.
I had a friend who had a chemical imbalance, and she said that it always bothered her when someone referred to that type of disability check as a crazy check. She said that since she just had a disorder, she didn't consider herself crazy, so she didn't want people thinking of her in that way.
I don't know if some people are still using that term today, but I know that some of them never thought it was wrong to say it, or they didn't do it to intentionally hurt anyone. That was just their way of saying that someone was getting a monthly check for a mental disability they have.
