I mentioned this issue over on my Twitter the other day. I think Hive needs to adapt and find other methods of income generation in addition to the 7 day window of curation. Something that doesn't just make content obsolete within a day; even if it's some type of Patreon like service where we can use Hive to offer monthly income to creators.

It'd be huge for video creators and artists in particular given the sheer amount of time spent creating either a video or piece of art. For many in those fields, a one-time earning of like $15 just isn't enough when external platforms can offer much more (especially when much of the social growth is to be found elsewhere too which adds to the potential earnings).

Hive exclusive artists could take on commissions from certain tiers of their monthly Hive subscribers, making it worthwile. Video creators can of course create additional content for theirs. They'd be making more, have the time to create more, and be capable of improving their production quality of videos. All making Hive more appealing to newcomers.

People mentioned that we have tipping here on Peakd, but it isn't enough given people are relying on that 7 day window of curation to make that Hive. People are less liberal on sharing it when it takes a week to get.

Imagine being able to pay monthly Hive to a creator knowing you're funding their exclusive Hive content. Then knowing that it's creating Hive exclusive full-time creators which of course adds to the area of onboarding when others could join knowing there's opportunity to not just earn, but live from their creations. Hive influencers, basically! And given it'd increased the distribution options of Hive, it is likely to remove a lot of that issue regarding people not wanting to share the limited Hive they do have.

In regards to onboarding people: over the 5~ years I've been part of this community, not a single person I have onboarded decided to stick around. Even after I offered to help them with formatting posts, communities, knowing what exchanges to use and how to set it all up. No matter how I offered to help and remove some of that difficulty, they all gave in.
