After encountering heavy Mongol reinforcements trying to stop the push toward the lighthouse, I joined forces with Masako to clear the area. Utilizing a smoke bomb, I quickly eliminated the Mongol leader and finished off remaining enemies.
Expecting a tough fight, I realized that I needed to move strategically as more enemies were bound to show up. Looking down the path, it appeared as though a fresh wave was charging right up the hill toward our position.
A massive wave of Mongol reinforcements had arrived with a clear goal: to stop us from reaching the lighthouse. They aggressively pushed through the tree line, spreading out across the terrain in an effort to completely lock down the area.
A Mongol leader appeared among the reinforcements, making the engagement significantly more dangerous. Looking for Masako while managing the incoming wave, I briefly lost sight of her in the chaos.
I was waiting to fight them directly, but in the heat of the opening exchange, I felt a bit confused about where Masako had gone. I couldn't spot her anywhere nearby in my immediate line of sight, leaving me to handle the initial wave on my own.
Once I spotted the leader, I immediately closed the distance to engage him. I deployed a smoke bomb to disorient him, following up with a critical strike that quickly brought the leader down and turned the tide of the battle.
Even with their leader defeated, remaining Mongol troops blew their war horns to call for additional support. I moved swiftly to eliminate them before more reinforcements could arrive at the scene.
I cut through the surrounding infantry, keeping the pressure high so they wouldn't have time to organize another coordinated push.
As I cleared through the remaining enemies, I finally spotted Masako actively fighting another group of Mongols nearby. It turned out she hadn't fled or gotten lost at all; she was simply busy engaging her own cluster of enemies around the area.
I moved in to assist her, hoping this would be the last group of invaders we would have to deal with for the moment.
Working together, we brought down the final Mongol standing, bringing a sudden, quiet stillness back to the battlefield
With the threat eliminated, both of us took a moment to recover at the base of the lighthouse, realizing the immediate danger had passed. I approached Masako to speak with her about our next move.
She mentioned that it was finally time to bring her sons to their resting place now that the lighthouse area was cleared of the enemy presence.
She reflected mournfully on how she had never let them spend the night at this location when they were alive, always calling them back home. Now, in a tragic turn of events, she was laying their bodies to rest here.
Jin shared in her sorrow, reflecting on how he missed hearing his own mother's voice after her passing. Masako offered him comforting words, reminding him to take solace in knowing his mother was at peace, just as her sons were now.
She then promised to lend her blade whenever Jin was ready to launch the rescue operation for Shimura. For the time being, she wished to stay behind and spend a few quiet moments with her sons.
Upon completing the mission, I was rewarded with the Charm of Fortune Return. What started as a simple objective ended up being an impactful battle that I thoroughly enjoyed playing through.
