Espera, no vayas tan deprisa.

Wait, don't go so fast.

When spending some time alone, I could hear the sound of my breathing, the only thing that made me conscious of my presence in the world.
I could be surrounded by singing birds, pleasant sounds, and people with thousands of stories behind their voices.
But there was something missing, something that seemed to arrive and leave so quickly that it didn't give me the chance to catch it with my hands as if it were an object.
I remember wishing time would pass quickly, especially in moments of restlessness and solitude. However, there I was: I found myself in the same place even though everything was moving around me.
It's easy to say that you can do more with what you have, that this present can give you the opportunity to repeat moments and stories.
But time is of incalculable value; anyone would give anything to be able to pay the price to extend it and not think about the end.
And the end will inevitably come, with doubts, with fears, and also with triumphs, but it is only valuable when we dedicate it to what makes us live with an open heart.
Many times I wanted to tell him: "Wait, don't go...", but he kept walking right past me and made me keep going even though I didn't want to.
It is that which goes by the name of time, which I wish I could touch with my hands, modify, and slow down in its velocity.
We all have time: some know how to make the most of it, and there are others who simply let themselves be carried away by it. I would love to say that I have always known how to live at its pace, but it hasn't been that way.
In my own innocence, I would like to shout at it to pass more slowly, not to take away things as valuable as afternoons spent with special people or the chance to see the sunset one more time.
I wish I could start truly valuing it so that, when tomorrow arrives, I won't think about how I could have done more and how it fell short.
Perhaps at some point I will feel that I can keep pace with it, but all I desire is to be able to speak to it face-to-face and repeat: wait, don't go so fast.
