They say the eyes are the windows to the soul right? Well, I tried to draw one that really stares back.
To achieve this look, I used a 2B graphite pencil, Marie's soft charcoal pencil, a Tombow Monozero eraser and tissue paper.
This piece pushed me. From the fine lashes to the reflection in the pupil, I wanted each part to carry life. To get that texture in the skin, I worked in layers using graphite pencil and Marie’s soft charcoal pencil, building tone gradually. The Tombow Mono Zero eraser helped with those highlights around the eye and brow. For blending, I used a tissue paper to keep things smooth without losing texture.
No full progress shots, my setup had a few hiccups, but I’m glad the final result speaks for itself.
