Today has been hot and sunny - a good day to catch up with friends and for children to play...
So that's just what we did - bundling up the little man and heading out of the city to see my best friend and her son. Yet we are not the only ones: ahead of us there are cars lined up, bumper to bumper, keen to get out of the city and escape to the freedom of the beaches and the outdoors.
It is wonderful to get the boys together and relax while we could watch them play. The beauty with my friend's place is it's on a large block - room for the different toys and games we just can't have at our place. The pool, the sandpit, climbing frame and castle with slide - it's all there (yay!) Most of all - the boys have lots of grass and space to run around while they play. We didn't use the big pool, but a paddle pool with the boys splashing us and doing the "hokey-pokey". Sometimes it's the small things that are the good things and the water in a paddle pool is more fun on a hot day than anything else!
Australia Day is going to be recognized and celebrated in numerous different ways and I am certain there was a large number of barbeques running and the bottle shops working overtime. For us though, it was just relaxing in the backyard with the feet in a paddle pool after having takeaway while the boys play. You could bottle that and sell it!!
We will be back to the usual routines tomorrow and I'll be back to work on Sunday. Still, it was a lovely day to be enjoyed by all... :)
