Millie sat with her daughter on the balcony of a holiday home they were staying in. It belonged to friends but they were allowed to be there for as long as they wanted.
They had just been to the consultant yesterday and received the news that the disease had spread throughout her body. She could do further Chemotherapy or Radiation, and that would increase the time that she would have. But nothing would get it out of her body.
Her daughter was just sitting with her and holding her hand.
"So what do you plan to do Mum?"
"Nothing"
"Really? He said the chemo could make a big difference to the times!!"
Her mother turned to her. Sometimes just doing nothing and letting nature take it's course is the best way to go. We've fought our fight and I'm at peace with God and with my past. You're just going to have to let it go."
Millie turned back. "It's funny how I've stayed here so many times and I've never truly noticed how amazingly beautiful this sunset is. It is just a sunset, but it fills me and makes me complete."
The daughter had her arm around her Mum: "I see it too Mum. It's absolutely beautiful."
They sat and watched the sunset together in peace.
