I saw the building from a distance - it felt imposing. Just like it did many years ago.
I had seen it as a little girl and was scared back then, now I didn't know how to feel...
"Do we go inside or shall I wait?"
"Lets go in and see if anyone is there yet."
My partner came in with me to see what was happening - who was around. A few other people were starting to show.
I could not see my parents but I know they must be nearby.
"I want to introduce you, you have to meet them sometime."
"What about your Dad? Will he be ok?"
"We'll see..."
This was a strict Catholic Church, and it is not usual for a gay couple to be coming through the doors. But I love my Sister and wanted to be there at the wedding.
My Mum came up the aisle and reached out - giving me a hug.
" How wonderful you came!"
"Will Dad be OK about us being here?"
"Too bad if he isn't - I want you here and he's in no position to complain. Come along, both of you - the ceremony's about to start."...
