Hello Splinterfans!
The Rag n' Bone man sang that he is only human afterall and this is the big news that was announced by the Splinterlands team. The modern league should be switched to a human-only league (not to be confused with The Human League) and we have now been given a date the 25th July, which is much faster than I had expected.
Human Only Modern League
As a human player this is something that I have been looking forward to as although I play wild and modern, I play mostly modern as it seems to be easier for human players. For example I am already in Gold I in modern this season, but have not been able to get out of Gold III for wild yet. Usually I might be able to climb leagues for wild near the end of the season.
Whilst I am not against bots and understand that it can bring improvements for many things, I think it is the right focus of the team to make the game more interesting for human players rather than those who run bot farms or who don't even bother to log in anymore as it runs automatically for them.
Many changes in the past have made it better for bot players and disadvantaged human players and I am glad to see this change in focus as this is what will keep the game going in the long run and attract new players.
Focus Rewards
A great recent change that was implemented was to the timer of the daily reward focus chests. As I sometimes would not click claim exactly after the focus ended, I could lose out many chests over the season compared to someone running a bot.
This small rebalance goes a long way to make things better for human players and is very welcome. It is also important imo because there is lots of competition now for card games that are looking to give good card playing experiences and not be run by a bot.
GUI
Other recent changes implemented by the team to improve the experience for players has been the GUI change to the items section where you can see your cards.
The new interface is looking good and slick and I think it looks better. As I was very used to the old one with the menu across the top, I am slowly getting used to the smaller cards, side menu and sometimes though I can't find my cards quick enough clicking through the menus. However, it is a good improvement and works logically and gives a good overview of your cards.
Overall though, I think it is great that the team are working on these improvements and so many things are being done to improve the game for human players.
The final thing coming from the Splinterlands team is the release of Soulkeep and with it another usecase for SPS. The beta release should end by the end of the month and the new game released on the 1st of August. This is only a week or so away and I can't wait to test it out along with the Genesis League Soccer.
I didn't buy any Soulkeep packs yet, but I am expecting there will be some big release announcement and maybe then would be a good time to start buying some packs!
