This ruleset is the nightmare for all Sloan fans as you cannot use any ranged attack monsters, even if they are legendary and have other abilities.
This means your opponent will either attack with a melee or magic attack and you can do the same, so what would be the best options in this case? It can also depend on other factors such as what summoners are available and rulesets, but today I will show you one of my favorite tactics with the mighty Immortalis!
Usually, I might like to go in all guns blazing using Obsidian and try and give a maximum magic attack or go all in on a sneak melee attack. However, magic reflecting tank or magic rebuff can leave you very limp handed.
My Team
This is a low mana battle and I am taking a risk using Immortalis who costs 6 mana.
| Summoner/ Monster | Reason |
|---|---|
| Immortalis | Void ability - reduced magic attack |
| Hill Giant | Low mana cost, high health score and Stun ability |
| Uraeus | Sneak and poison attack |
| Mycelic Morphoid | Thorns in case of a sneak melee attack |
| Djinn Biljka | Hidden magic attack |
My opponents
The rules for the battle are:
| Odd Ones Out | Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles |
| Broken Arrows | Ranged attack Monsters may not be used in battles |

ROUND 1 - Hill Giant vs. Pelacor Mercenary
I have struck luck that my opponent has gone for the Obsidian magic attack so this would be de-buffed by Immortalis.
It was a consideration of mine if I should go for Pelacor Mercenary too, his sweet healing ability was very tempting, but I instead liked to have an ace up my sleeve with Hill Giant and his awesome stun ability.
Hill Giant sadly misses and takes some heavy damage from Pelacor Mercenary and Djinn Biljka.
ROUND 2
While he is stunned, he doesn't attack the Hill Giant who would fall if he did. He also doesn't heal himself.
ROUND 3
In round 3, we are already reaching a climax with both my opponents monsters down to 1 health score. As Djinn Biljka has camoflage ability, all my attack focuses on the stunned Pelacor Mercenary.
First up Uraeus takes a shot and he falls. Next steps up Djinn Biljka into my enemy's tank position. As the Hill Giant has a faster speed than him, Hill Giant attacks next and my opponent is defeated.
Summary:
The broken wings ruleset usually means that you can either use a magic or melee attack, but it can often pay to try and debuff one of these attacks to give you a surprise advantage.
