This is my post for #freewriters Wednesday prompt concentrated poverty hosted by mariannewest@mariannewest

Have you ever done something that your gut told you not to do? I got my first vaccine shot today only because my husband kept on and on about if we got the virus, one of us has a chance of dying. I was undecided about getting it and wanted to wait at least several months before I did anything.

When you think of the people who live in Florida, poor people are the last ones you think of. You have the very rich, the rich, the upper-class, the middle-class who are the people who cater to the rich, mowing their yards and cleaning their swimming pools, and the poor and very poor.

The very rich live on the beach, the rich live on the river, the upper-class live in the bigger cities, the middle-class live in cookie-cutter developments, poor people live in trailer parks and the very poor live on the outskirts of towns. It seems to me they are in areas of concentrated poverty no one wants to help these people, some of their homes are no more than shacks ready to fall over in a big gust of wind.

Most people think that we are on the very poor list but we are richer than the ones on the beach, well, that is what I tell myself. They have all of that money and are grumpy, they come out yelling at you if you fish around their docks. They are always afraid that someone is going to take something from them like I really want the water hose or whatever they have on the dock.

I would rather deal with the very poor, they will invite you to their home and even when they do not have much to eat, they will offer you something. These are my kind of people.
