Best Trip of My Life!

👋 Hello HIVERS!
Back in October of last year, despite the ongoing, a few of my cousins and I decided to travel cross country with the end goal being to visit one of my aunt's who lives on the other side of the country from where we live. Basically travelling from the capital of Kenya, Nairobi to the western part of Kenya in the highlands.- Unfortunately I lost my google account and getting the photos from one of my cousin's will take forever....
Not only was this an opportunity to meet up with my cousins but it was also a perfect opportunity to enjoy travelling across the country and just getting to see and experience new sites. After finally managing to escape the always busy streets of Nairobi, despite the pandemic we finally got to the highway, a couple stops and few hours later, we were in another city in Kenya, Nakuru.
The thing that intrigues me the most about the location of the town is the fact that it is located on the floor of the Eastern Branch of The Great Rift Valley. Experiencing the beautiful scenery of the Rift Valley is exhilarating to say the least. From the beautiful escarpments to the salty water lakes located on the floor.

While at Nakuru part of the plan was to visit Lake Nakuru, which is among the few lakes in Kenya which are found in the floor of the Rift Valley. The lake is one of the must see attractions when visiting Kenya and travelling to the Rift Valley section of the country. It has a National Park brimming with a myriad of different species of wild animals, and birds. It is one of the lakes where Flamingos migrate to after reproduction in Lake Natron which is also on the floor of the Rift Valley but in the neighbouring Country Tanzania.

It could have not been a trip through Nakuru without visiting the famous Lord Egerton Castle, which is located 14km outside Nakuru town. He was among the last white settlers in Kenya back in the colonial days.
The castle is famous since as the story goes it was built with the aim of impressing a lady who he had aspirations of tying the knot with, but who every time she came to inspect the house he had built for her always complained that it was not enough, and the Lord went ahead to build the castle in hopes of finally getting to marry but by the time it was completed she had already found another suitor and moved on with life. It is a quite intriguing story despite it being sad. For those interested in checking it out, you can read more here......

After enjoying the beautiful scenes in Nakuru, we were back again on the road, each one of us taking turns being the DJ for the songs, while the lest of us tried to out do each other on who knew the most lyrics to most of the songs.
Other than the scenery the thing that made the trip memorable are the conversations we had, revolving around a myriad of topics. Something we all enjoy is just exploring different perspectives and with the appreciation of each individuals unique personality the conversations can last for hours, going into politics, meaning of life, questioning our existence, discussing the peculiar nature of our culture, our country.......the list goes on and on, and of course so random jokes here and there to keep the mood jovial.....
I will admit it is sometimes hard for me to socialize most of the times since I find that many people don't like exploring deep into particular topics, but with my cousins, depth is what we all go for and so with them I can expound as far as my imagination goes without the fear of being called weird or crazy, because we all are weird, but despite that, we embrace our weirdness, something I wish many people did, life is sooo full of a lot of intriguing perspectives, I don't get what people get in conforming and sharing the same perspective or rather way of thinking....
Despite getting to our destination later than was expected, the time spent on the road was full of unforgettable memories....My aunt could not believe how daring we were to travel very late at night, but it was all good, we all arrived safely, despite being super tired.......
I cannot wait to finish my Bachelors and embark on another trip this time around across the country documenting all the beautiful scenes and sharing them with the world.....
