Exploring Shanghai, China

Hi everyone, have a good day!
Visiting Shanghai, China was such an interesting experience, from the culture to the food!
I love spicy food, and Shanghai has so many restaurants that serve it. But the spice there is a bit different, they use pepper spice called Mala, which gives that numbing feeling. The portions are quite big for me, so I think one meal can easily be shared. For example, one bowl of noodles is already huge..
I heard that crab noodles are famous there, but I didn’t get a chance to try them yet.
I did try the dumplings though, they were so good!
What I find really interesting is how families spend time together at night. I often saw parents walking with their kids, and sometimes even forcing them to take pictures 😄 Some kids cried, some tried to smile but looked tired, it was cute and funny to watch..

From Nanjing Road to The Bund, the streets are always full of people walking together. Many families wear matching outfits and always look stylish. Usually, there are two or three kids, plus grandparents, so it’s like three generations spending time together.
People don’t really speak English there, so sometimes ordering food can be hard. I often used Google Translate to communicate. Most payments are done with Alipay or WeChat, which is actually easier than using cash. When I used coins, I didn’t really know how to spend them, so I ended up bringing lots of Chinese coins home 😅
From the airport to the city, you can take the Maglev Train, which costs 50 RMB for a single trip and goes up to 300 km/h, super fast!
Hotels in Shanghai are actually cheaper than in many other countries, I think. I stayed at Kempinski, and it was way cheaper than Kempinski in my country, Indonesia.
Public transportation is easy to use, the metro system is great. But I often used Didi, which is like Uber there. My funny experience was the first time I used the cheapest Didi option. The driver asked me for the last four digits of my phone number, but since he didn’t speak English, I didn’t understand what he wanted, he started yelling and I freaked out 😅 After that, I always used the premium one, the driver opens the door for you, the car is new and clean, totally worth it!
There’s also a Starbucks Reserve Roastery, it’s the biggest Starbucks in the city! You can see how they roast and package the coffee there. I also visited Disneyland Shanghai, which was such an amazing place. It’s not just for young people, it’s for everyone!
