Hello friends of Hive! We are Omar and Dina from musicandreview@musicandreview and we are delighted to present you one of our favorite songs, it is "Hijo de la luna" from the Spanish pop band "Mecano", the song is from the album "Entre el cielo y el suelo" which was released in 1986. The song was composed and produced by José María Cano and masterfully interpreted by Ana Torroja; it has many versions in different languages but we particularly like the version of the Spanish Metal band Stravaganzza.

For this week 82 the theme was chosen by betzaelcorvo@betzaelcorvo and is called "Stories of the Night". This song seems to fit perfectly as it tells the tragic story of a gypsy woman who fell in love with a gypsy belonging to the Calé ethnic group. Both could not marry, because the laws of each gypsy village only allowed marriage between members of the same tribe; this situation led the desperate woman to make a deal with the moon itself in order to marry her love; however, it would not be so easy.

We hope you like it!

Tendrás a tu hombre piel morena

Me has engaña'o fijo

Son of the moon

Fool who does not understand
There is a legend
That a gypsy female
Conjured up the moon until dawn
Crying she asked when the day came
To marry a calé

You will have your man with brown skin
From the sky spoke the full moon
But in return I want
The first son that you beget to him
Who who immolates his son not to be alone
Little would I love him

Moon you want to be a mother
And you can't find the love that makes you a woman
Tell me silver moon
What do you intend to do with a child of skin
Son of the Moon

From a cinnamon father a child was born
White as an ermine's back
With eyes gray instead of olive
Albino child of the Moon
Damn his appearance!
This son is of a payo and I won't keep quiet about it

Luna you want to be a mother
And you can't find the love to make you a woman
Tell me Luna de plata
What do you intend to do with a child of skin
Son of the Moon

Gypsy believing himself disgraced
He went to his wife knife in hand
Whose son is he! You have deceived me for sure
And mortally wounded her
Then he went to the mountain with the child in his arms
And there she abandoned him

Luna you want to be a mother
And you can't find the will to make you a woman
Tell me, silver moon
What do you intend to do with a child of skin
Child of the Moon

And on nights when the moon is full
It will be because the child is in good spirits
And if the child cries the Moon will wane
To make him a cradle
And if the child cries the Moon will wane
To make him a cradle
