So I have been hooked on steem for most of the weekend. The reaction to my cycling experiences has been completely amazing. My first post was top 3 in the pending payout section in the daily hit parade for new fish. I never expected that kind of welcome, I am so grateful to you all and I am over the moon that you like my stuff.
There is a real doozy still to come, I promise you that. Just in case you missed them here are the first two parts:
Anyway I digress, back to the point, Steamin on Steem.
My wife kept saying, "are you 'Steeming' again". In hindsight this was perhaps not the best sentence to say in front of my very impressionable 5 year old. As apparently my son went to school today and kept saying, "My Dad was steamin all weekend." He was telling the teachers, his friends, even their parents.
Now for most of the world this would be a fine thing to say. However here in Scotland, the word steamin is a colloquialism for being very drunk.
When I was picking my son up from school, I was receiving dirty looks from all the parents. I thought this was somewhat strange but just shrugged it off.
Then I was pulled to the side by his teacher, she started by saying.
"You really shouldn't be drinking in front of your children, they are very easily influenced at that age."
I was flabbergasted, for the life of me I couldn't figure out where she had gotten this from. I responded with.
"I haven't been, I don't drink."
"But your son has been saying you were steamin all weekend!"
I eventually managed to clarify the situation with his teacher however I don't think I will be able to do the same with ALL of the other parents. Oh well at least I won't be invited to any shite birthday parties anymore. Every cloud I guess.
