Xiaomi Redmi A2 Plus. Double problem: Google account locked and no connection lines to the PC. Diagnosis and Solution / Xiaomi Redmi A2 Plus.
Good afternoon to @Geek Zone and the rest of Hive.
Today we present an interesting repair case. A Xiaomi Redmi A2+ locked by a Google account, but which also has an additional fault. The customer brought it in because, as in many cases, he set a password and then forgot it. So, initially, our task was to unlock the Google account. However, when we connected it to the PC, no matter how much we tried, even with several USB cables, it did not recognize the phone. We tried manual unlocking methods, but the phone's security is high and we could not do it. So, we are going to perform a diagnosis to analyze why the PC does not recognize the phone so that we can unlock it.
DIAGNÓSTICO
DIAGNOSIS
1-We opened the phone for a visual inspection. The first thing we detected was that the charging port had been replaced and, in fact, it was not the one this phone is supposed to have. In addition, here is the problem: it seems that when the charging port was replaced, the data lines were torn off, including the ID line and the negative line. So, here is our diagnosis. It is obvious that the PC does not recognize the phone because the positive and negative data lines are missing, which are precisely the connection lines.
REPARACIÓN
REPAIR
1-We have a more difficult task than usual. We will have to replace that faulty port, restore the data lines, and then unlock the phone.
2-We will not go into detail about replacing the charging port, since we have already seen this in other posts. Once we replace it with the one this model actually uses, we will restore the lines. But for this, we need to know the route on the subboard from where they leave the charging port until they reach the FPC connector on the lower board itself. For this, we will use CircuitBit. The exact model, the Redmi A2+, does not appear, but we will use the Redmi A2 model, which is the same. We open CircuitBit and look at the yellow line (negative data) and the green line (positive data). They run from the charging port to some test points on the back of the subboard and from there directly to the FPC.
3-What we are going to do is solder three jumpers: one for the missing negative line and one for each of the data lines, up to the mentioned test points. We will need an extra-fine tip for our soldering iron and an extra-fine wire. We will have to solder in a very small area, which will be the greatest complexity of our work. So, we prepare the three jumpers, solder them, carefully place the subboard back into the phone, and connect the FPC. All that remains is to test it on the PC to see if we have been successful.
DESBLOQUEO
UNLOCKING
1-We will now perform the final test. To remove the Google account from this phone, we will use UMT, so we will save ourselves from having to rent UnlockTool. We will connect the Box to the PC. We will run the MTK module, which we know is the processor used by this phone. Once opened, on the right side, we will select where it says Format Functions. A drop-down menu appears, and we will select the option that says Reset FRP.
2-With everything ready, it is time to check whether we were successful with the previous restoration. Pressing both volume buttons at the same time, we connect the USB cable to the phone and, to our delight, we were successful. The program recognized the phone in BROM mode, started reading its characteristics, and finally unlocked it. When finished, the phone restarts, turns on, and that's it. It is now without the account, allowing us to configure it and enter the system. Everything is ready to deliver to the customer.
That concludes this repair process. These multiple repairs are uncommon, but they do happen. A phone may have a fault, a lock, or any other problem, and in order to solve it, another problem has to be repaired first, making the repair more complex. Normally, we would complete this unlocking process in about 5 minutes. However, it took us almost an hour, and the most difficult part was precisely the soldering in such a small area to restore the data lines. This was also made possible thanks to our great Circuit Bit tool.
