Greetings, dear friends.
I believe that the Castle of the Three Kings of Morro is one of the most representative elements of Havana. Towering over the tip of the bay, it is a beacon and a treasure trove of memories for all of us who love and dream of this city. It is a guardian, a luminous ghost that sustains the imagination of a city that lives between memory and the sea. Today I will share photos from a recent visit that made me very happy and that, despite being one of many I have made, always leaves me with a pleasant feeling of happiness when I walk among its walls.
It is a timeless image of Havana: to think of El Morro is to think of Havana, which is why its image is one of the most reproduced in photographs and paintings. It is impossible to avoid it; sometimes I try not to include it in my photos, but it is useless, it has an unparalleled appeal.
When I visit it, I imagine what life would have been like for the Spanish guards within those walls. It's truly fascinating.
It is a symbol of arrival and departure from the city, and the view from the top of the lighthouse is simply spectacular.
Full of popular and mystical traditions, it is a symbol of resistance.
I remember as a child that many people used to visit it, but nowadays it is practically always empty, and if you meet anyone there, it is purely by chance.
From inside the prison, the atmosphere, the shadows, and the natural light coming in through the windows create a simply magical environment.
It won't be the last time I visit this iconic place; I always learn something new. Every detail, every stone, everything breathes history and tradition, which is why I wanted to share it with you today. I am truly delighted to be able to do so and to be part of this beautiful community. Thank you very much for your attention. I look forward to reading your comments.
See you tomorrow, when I'll be back with more street stories.
