The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a sci-fi musical horror comedy released in 1975. As such, various genres are mixed. The film is a homage and parody to cheap B-class science fiction and horror films produced in the 1930s and 1960s. It is also a movie version of the musical Rocky Horror Show, which was performed in 1973.

The plot of the movie has little content and the plot is not important. When they are engaged, Janet and Brad go into a nearby castle to ask for help after a car breaks down in a heavy rain, where Frank, an alien woman, is experimenting with creating a muscular man. Janet and Brad each have sex with Frank and go through a bizarre event of extraterrestrials from the Transsexual planet in the Transylvania galaxy. Frank's muscular man, Rocky, creates an uproar, eventually Frank and Rocky die, and the aliens return to their home planet.

As it is a musical, the movie continues to play cheerful rock and roll, and Meatloaf appears as Eddie for a while. When the film was released, it was criticized by critics and was ignored by the public. However, after that, it was screened in late-night theaters, gaining popularity and becoming a cult film. The audience who visited the late-night theater created a social phenomenon in which the audience directly participated, such as reenacting the movie scenes in the same costumes as the casts, and through this, it became recognized as the original cult film.

It is unclear what message the film intended to convey. In addition to the homage to the B-class movie, if I want to find the meaning, I think it is a challenge to social norms. The exemplary and wholesome young people Janet and Brad are sexually degraded by Frank, and especially the virgin Janet, after having sex with Frank, actively seduces the muscular man Rocky created by Frank and degenerates enough to have sex. do. Frank shows an indulgent sex in a drag queen outfit, and it can be interpreted that he is pouring ridicule on the existing order through actions that would have been antisocial in American society at the time.

It is a major studio film produced by Fox in the 20th century, although it exudes a class B emotion. It's fun to see the young and young Susan Sarandon as Janet, showing a feeling that fits the sentiment of a B-class movie, and seeing the meatloaf die after a short appearance on a motorcycle. Because of the various characteristics, the film became a cult phenomenon through word of mouth among young people and became a social phenomenon. If you look at Korean people at this point, it might feel like a weird and bizarre movie.
