From the third round, next to Toejam & Earl, Latisha comes with us. The team is tasked with bringing the twelve sacred funk albums back to the Funkopotamus Lamont. The albums have been stolen and are on planet earth. Since there are mostly radio-free citizens living there, reclaiming the vinyl discs is no easy task.
The player controls one of the three characters through a 3D world with over 30 levels and is supposed to collect a lot of objects. First, you need the keys.
On earth the player can expect a real magnificence of objects: With jump shoes, Icarus wings, or rocket skates you can move faster or reach hidden platforms.
To open barriers that prevent the player from progressing, the heroes need dollar bills. The levels are located in different areas: In addition to a city zone, there is the grass zone, desert zone, snow zone, and water zone. At the end of the game, the player competes against the anti-radio.
With funkification notes and funk-fu-blasts you can convert Earthlings to funk - this is the main task to master the levels.
If little brats and boogie men can still be convinced with a simple Funk Fu attack, they will fire at stronger opponents such as construction workers, cheerleaders, and country singers with funkification marks. Whether you can convince opponents with a "Funk Fu" attack depends on the level of the player: Similar to role-playing games, the developers distribute experience points, and if the level of the player increases, his skills improve.
The player characters have different characteristics, by the way. So you change your character for the tasks. Toejam, for example, is quite fast, which is extremely useful when collecting some "running away" items.
He can't get any rotten food for that, which Big Earl has no problem with. In addition to their love of funk, all the characters have one thing in common: weird humor. This runs through the whole game and makes for one or the other screamer. The cheeky Earthlings also contribute, especially when they poke at Big Earl's physique.
This game was originally developed for the Dreamcast. After Sega suffered serious losses and crushed the Dreamcast, this game was released for the Xbox. The beta version for the Dreamcast is now partly available for purchase on eBay. The Dreamcast version seems to be different from the Xbox version. On the Dreamcast, the game looks more like a remake of the first part.
The third part, unfortunately, has weak background graphics, the music repeats itself too often from the first and second parts, just remastered.
This game is still good and makes fun. But didn´t have the "spirit" of the first two parts.
