I am often sceptical about surveys or studies on human behaviour and the like. But the one thing I would not dispute is that men are better at reading maps than women. This truth totally applies to me at least.
I can never comprehend road maps as these are so scaled down that it is unbelievable that an entire location or city could be represented on a single piece of paper. I am unreliable even with the gps. When the instruction says to just keep on the right lane, I never fail to turn right and vice versa.
Nobody wants me to be the navigator in any of the treasure hunts we participate in. So I am just the backseat passenger or a puppet driver in worst case scenario when no competent driver is available.
I am certain there are many very capable women map readers but I am not one of them. According to a study men are better because as children they play video games and Lego whereas girls play with dolls. Apparently, this gives boys an edge or better ability at spatial skills.
