This image was first created as a black and white ink drawing. It is not an illustration of scrying stones, but rather explores the concept of divination, seeing a kaleidoscope of interacting forms or ideas.
Scrying stones, also known as crystal balls or divination stones, are tools used in various forms of divination and spiritual practices. The term "scrying" refers to the act of gazing into a reflective or translucent surface to gain insights, visions, or messages from the subconscious mind or the spiritual realm.
Scrying stones can be made from various materials, including crystals such as quartz, obsidian, or amethyst. These stones are often polished and may have a spherical or smooth, flat surface. The choice of material and shape can vary depending on the practitioner's preferences and beliefs.
Adding color to the drawing served to amplify its depth and richness, enhancing the visual narrative and imbuing it with a greater sense of vibrancy and complexity. The hues and tones introduced through coloration provided additional layers of meaning and symbolism, further enriching the portrayal of the multi-dimensional insights inherent in divination.
While this is still basically flat art, I created additional depth and complexity by adding soft shadows and subtle highlights.
