Last week, I boarded a bus going to Batangas and in the bus, we had a passenger who paid for two seats in the bus because his baggage got bad. As we were travelling, He started laying curses on the bus company "this bus company will go down, i will fast and pray for it to go down,"
While he was still talking, another passenger who also had a bad experience with the bus company rebuked him and said it will never go down. As this was going on, there was a little exchange of words, so i have to "come in" in the argument and I said to the "go down man" that in the next twenty years to come that the bus company will still be in operation.
The man who said that the bus company will go down told me that there is power on spoken words and such, his words will come to pass. To buttress his point, he used one telecommunication company (name withheld) as point of contact, saying that what happened to the telecommunication company will happen to the bus company.
It's laughable how we come to believe that our spoken words are very powerful but chose to use it in the negative way. Many a time, we use spoken words to express our wrath and anger. So as we know that our spoken words are very powerful, why don't we use it in the godly and positive way??
If our spoken words is all about bringing down a company because we are not satisfied by their service, why can't we also speak good of it so that it will restructure and offer good service? Or did God give us "words" only for negative purposes? To destroy? Nay! Not so!
Okay, for a scenario, lets look at when Stephen was stoned, don't you know that if he (stephen) had said that those who stoned will die the next day, that they won't die? Of course they will all perish. But rather, he spoke the words of forgiveness! For the fact that we are treated badly does not mean we should speak words of destruction to those persecuting or hurting us!
Of course, at such time, we are tempted to revenge with our words which we see and believe to be very powerful. Our words which many a time, insult and accuse ought to be words of blessing and correction.
"If your words can destroy, it can build".
Can we use words to serve God's purpose? Yes can! We should be aware that God despises it when we tear and destroy others with our spoken words. It is natural to seek revenge, which prompts us to fight back with our spoken words which is very powerful. But, wouldn't it be better if we resort to God to fight for us? of course, it will! And when God fights for, victory is sure!.
So, our words should be used in the positive way, for building and not destroying. for edification and not for accusation! Build people with your words. let your word be a source of life to someone out there!
Even when treated badly or hurt, calm down, take a deep breathe, and walk away instead of saying words that would be of destruction. i know its easier said than done, but, hey, you can do it! Yes you can
Don't destroy with your words! Words are powerful and should be used carefully!
