Different country means different culture. Our beliefs are different from other's. But isn't it nice to know some culture that we didn't know before. Although it's not that special but when it's something new, it will caught our interest about this matter. I don't know if all countries have many cultures. As far as I know, we filipinos have lot of cultures. Some of them were forgotten because of new generation. Still there are some cultures that are still going on.
I'm wondering if you have love's one that was just being dead. Did you sent it right awat in the cemetery or let the dead body inside the coffin to stay in your house. Let the families, cousins, neighbours and friends mourn their death for long? Well, actually here in the Philippines we're doing that. In our own dialect(visaya) and in english it called funeral or vigil if I'm correct. Day's ago the grandmother of our friend's passed away. Of course many people would felt sadness but who felt sad most are the son's, daughter's and the people who lives inside the house. When we grow old we separate ways to find job for our future. Yes, it's far from our love one's.
When your love one's passed away and you aren't there. We filipinos doing this funeral, sometimes it reach for a month. It depends if the one who's waiting for is not arrive. But because of our beliefs that not to leave the dead body. We believe that if we leave the dead body there's a mythical creature like "wak-wak" will get the body. They said it's an evil or something that love to smell that dead body. The "wak-wak" will get the body and replace it with the body of a banana but the appearance will still look like a human. It's hard to believe, right? Well in our country that's what we believing.
To make the people who visited their to stay awake. The house will offer the visitors coffee, bread, biscuits and liquors. But to make the funeral more fun the house will offer the visitors game cards, board games like chess kr Chinese checkers. By having games in the funeral, there's an assurance that many people will still awake. The house is responsible for giving food to the visitors. If that house is rich it will offer food like a feast. The house who have a dead body is to make sure that many people will come by. They're also happy if many people will come that it means their love one's who was dead was being loved after all.
One more thing, if the time has come that the dead body will now be burried. But before going to the church then cemetery. The responsible house will prepare a big feast to offer to those who want to come in the burial. Maybe it's hard if we experienced death from our love one's because of the expenses. But we never think of it that time, what's important to us is we can still see our love one's face and we can still mourn from it.
