Coconut lumber is the cheapest lumber to use in building a house. I don't know why but it's been like this ever since I've known about lumber. Since a lot of coconut trees fell after the typhoon, the people used this opportunity to repair or rebuild their houses. Thankful for this opportunity or not but I must say it's a little worrying. We all know how much coconut trees provide so many things. From the tree, fruits, leaves, and some part of it.

As you can see our house was destroyed by the typhoon Odette. You can barely see it as a house since the roofs and the walls were damaged. I remember how I begged some time ago after the typhoon because I couldn't believe it. It's rather a sudden drama but I couldn't help it considering how broke I felt seeing our house. It's painful to see but yes, pain can still be eased in time especially when you can see something good will happen. That's why the day before I went to a certain place and talked to the owner to buy coconut lumber.
The price was low and no need for permission from the municipality in buying it because it was stated we're in calamity. Normally, every tree can be sold to 500 to 1000 each but because it already fell down I bought 300 each. I was told by my sister to buy at least 35 pieces of coconut lumber with a measure of 2x3x12 and 15 pieces of 2x5x12. The chainsaw operator calculated it overall with 360 bullpit. I don't know how they called the exact measurement but that's what they called it. Also, I spent 5000 pesos or 100 USD overall in buying coconut lumber.
I spent a lot because transporting it into our house was a bit far. I helped the person who transported it but it's kind of heavy. I felt my shoulder start to numb so I just guided them. Well, it's not easy to carry heavy materials if you're not used to them.
We ready the materials for building the sketch of our house. We prioritize building the foundation so that we can have a roof in our house. As of now, we're still using a plain tarpaulin to shelter us from the rain and the sun. It's just a remedy for now so we can sleep at night and at least staying at home will not trouble us.
Slowly, I'm hoping we can build a roof so my mother will not be worried if a strong wind will blow. It's easier for it to be damaged if it will last because of the sun and the rain. Somehow, we're forgetting the nightmare created by the typhoon and getting back to how we used to be before.
