In this post I discuss how actifit@actifit is helping me to create positive habits, and how this helps me to get more rewards.

Road to 10,000 AFIT

Recently actifit@actifit changed the terms for their $1 upvote in exchange for 20 AFIT tokens. Previously one only needed to transfer 1 STEEM to Actifit to be eligible for this, but now you also need to hold 10,000 AFIT tokens. Initially when I realised this I was disappointed but then I decided to use this as a spur to post more regularly to accumulate 10,000 AFIT tokens through activity. To help me achieve this milestone, my goal now is to post 10,000 steps every day. I’ve made some everyday adjustments that help, like getting off the train earlier on the way home and walking further. Something as small as this makes a big difference.

Stacking steps

Speaking of everyday adjustments, actifit@actifit isn’t the only app I’m using to reward me for my activity. I’m also using the Qantas Wellbeing app, which rewards me in Qantas Frequent Flyer points for achieving steps (and sleep) goals. Thus, I call it ‘stacking steps’ - the act of leveraging multiple sources that reward physical activity. Obviously the Qantas example isn’t much use to people outside Australia but my point is that there are multiple ways to get rewarded for physical activity. I’m keeping my eye out for more ways to stack steps.

I’m a steps snob

I’m aware that the minimum activity is 5,000 but I choose to only post on 10,000+ steps days. I know the argument is that 5,000 to 10,000 still gives you the opportunity to earn more STEEM. Why look a gift horse in the mouth, right? Well, I’m a steps snob. There’s not much else to say, other than that I also don’t upvote other actifit@actifit posts that are less than 10,000 steps - it’s not personal, just my own internal rule.

User rank

Now I’m trying to post 10,000+ steps a day, my user rank will hopefully rise. actifit@actifit says in the comments they leave each time with their upvote that user rank plays a part in the number of AFIT tokens they award (along with post quality, delegation, activity count, etc). I have to say I’m not noticing much difference in the reward, but maybe I need to give it more time to see the results? Also, on days when I post high activity count, the AFIT reward doesn’t seem to reflect that so it’s a mystery to me.

The end game is the accumulation of STEEM. I want 10,000 AFIT so I can get bigger STEEM upvotes so I can accumulate SP faster. It’s pretty simple.
