Saving money as a student sounds very easy when you say it, but actually doing it is another story. Sometimes you will tell yourself, This month, I am going to save money and control my spending. You will even make a plan in your head and feel very serious about it. Then one unexpected expense will come And everything will scatter.

As a student, there are many things that need money, Even when you don't have any serious plans for the day money can still find a way to leave your pocket. Transportation alone can take a good part of your money. You wake up in the morning thinking you only need a little money for transport then you remember you have somewhere else to go. Before you know it you have entered another vehicle, paid another fare and started calculating what is left. Then comes food.
This one is another matter entirely.

You cannot stay hungry just because you want to save money. Sometimes you tell yourself “I will manage today But after attending lectures for hours, your stomach will start reminding you that it did not agree to the savings plan. You will start looking for something to eat and once you buy food, you may still need water or something else to go with it. Before you know it, the money you planned to keep has reduced again.

Another problem is those small expenses that don't look serious at first.
You buy a snack. You recharge your phone. You buy data, You photocopy something for school, You contribute money for group work. You buy a pen because the one you were using has suddenly decided to stop working.
Each one looks small but when you add everything together, you will be surprised at how much money has disappeared.

Sometimes I think money has legs,
You put it somewhere in the morning, and by evening, it has travelled somewhere you don't even know But despite all these challenges, I have realized that saving money is still possible. It just requires some discipline One thing that can help is knowing exactly what you want to use your money for. If I receive money without having a plan, it becomes easier to spend it on random things But when I already have something important in mind, I think twice before spending.

I am also learning that I don't have to buy something simply because I have money at that moment. Sometimes you see something you like and immediately think, “Let me just buy it.” But after buying it, you may later realize that you actually needed that money for something more important.
That is why I am trying to ask myself before spending, “Do I really need this?
Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes the answer is definitely no. I am not saying students should never enjoy their money.

We also need to have fun sometimes. School life should not be only lectures, assignments and stress But there has to be some balance Even saving a small amount regularly can make a difference. It may not look like much at first but after some time, you will be happy that you kept something aside. The main thing is consistency. As students, we may not have plenty of money now but learning how to manage the little we have can prepare us for the future.

Because honestly, if I cannot manage a small amount now, having plenty of money tomorrow may not automatically make me better at managing it. So I am trying to spend wisely, save whenever I can and avoid unnecessary spending, It is not always easy, especially when unexpected expenses keep appearing But little by little, I am trying to get better at it.

Student life is not only about passing exams. Sometimes it is also about learning how to survive the month with the money you have left
