It's another weekend and we are ready to party as always. One big society wedding will be taking place in Lagos and some highly placed persons will be in attendance, meaning that there would be enough to each eat and drink. As a co-host, I am allowed to come with my crew of at least three persons. So, my colleagues at work have been complaining that they do not have any events to attend this weekend.

Since I have one big one already with an option to bring three people, I quickly snapped into their discussion to invite them.

Hey guys!! I have one big event on the island this weekend and I am the co-host with I.K. Osakioduwa.

They looked a little bit surprised that I would be sharing the stage with such a powerful comperé.

Anyways all you need to do is to come in an all-white apparel.

Kachi looked like he had seen a ghost when I mentioned the colour, white.

Is there any problem, Kachi?

The gentleman still looked dazed as he opened his mouth, ajar. I wondered what had warranted his bewilderment.

Nothing bro. I am just trying to remember if I have any white apparel at home.

Kachi replied to me with the assurance of having white apparel. You know, most Lagos party wear is white, I wouldn't know why the partygoers or party organizers have an attachment to the white colour. I know that white colours are very beautiful on camera. As I was ruminating on the relevance of white in Lagos parties, Kachi broke my thoughts again

Please, what kind of white apparel?

His question shocked me to the marrow. At first, I couldn't even understand what he was driving at. As far as I know, white is white. But since I didn't want to embarrass myself before Kachi and other of my colleagues, I asked him

Which other kind of white do you know?

He looked up trying to find answers to my question.

Many white colours exist, bro. There is off-white, seashell white, snow white, cream white, alabaster white, eggshell white, Ivory white, salt white……..

My head began to spin as the young man began to mention so many shades of white colour that exist. I wanted to leave the conversation but I will be like a loser allowing Kachi to play with my thinking. I jokingly replied him

Any of the white you mentioned would be fine.

I thought that would be all. The other guys looked confused as I was but with my last statement, I could see that there seemed to be a little calmness in the atmosphere until Kachi came with another thunderbolt.

Mr Pearl, may I ask what fabrics of apparel would be most suitable.

Kachi with this his question like those asked on the programme, Who wants to be a millionaire?

At this point, I don't know what to say. I just stood at the spot, speechless.

There is satin, jacquard, cotton, silk, chiffon, velvet, wool, muslin, linen, poplin, flannel, polyester, Taffeta, crépe, georgette, denim, brocade, lawn, rayon, damask, organza, voile, corduroy, broadcloth…..

Before Kachi stopped whistleblowing, we all burst into laughter. What a way to describe apparel. Bayo, the personal secretary to the operations manager just looked at Kachi and said

Kay, seriously I don't know what to tell you. I think engineering has eaten you up. All these are just for the Lagos party.

Again, we burst into another round of laughter.

Another of my colleagues had started rolling out his handkerchief because Maureen, the only lady in the discussion, had laughed so hard that beads of tears had gathered under her eyelids.

To save the day, I had to come in for Kachi.

Bro, it is not as hard as you think. Any white apparel will be just fine. The best thing is that you are ready to have enough fun.

I started another lecture, especially for Kachi. It appeared that the guy hasn't been to a social gathering for some years. The lecture was needed as we spoke about a lot of other stuff that would make a partygoer have fun while enjoying the weekend.

Again, Kachi came up with another bombshell.

Too much Coke can make me tipsy.

This was another big one but I was done for the day. We just laughed it off and we closed for the day.
