Njoku wanted to ensure she left the restaurant unhurt. So, he followed her to her car.
Why have you been stalking me?
Arafat said without turning back. She wasn't talking to Njoku but he stopped walking, thinking it was him she was addressing.
I have told you countless times to trust me, yet you keep troubling yourself thinking I am having an extramarital affair.
She continued speaking. She struggled to open the door to her car. She opened the door after much struggle, turned on the ignition, and moved out of the parking lot of the restaurant.
Now, Njoku was rest assured that everyone was safe, the unknown and strange customer had left the restaurant. He continued his job.
Arafat got home and found out that she had been hallucinating about Jude. She was lucky that she didn't run over any passersby or crash into another moving vehicle.
That night, she wept and drank a lot of alcohol. The whole living room was scattered. Arafat carried her mattress to the living room and slept on the bare floor. The last six days had been worse for her. If she had known, she wouldn't have confronted Jude with such a cheap joke.
All the pots and used dishes in the kitchen have started breeding worms and cockroaches. The whole house was in a total mess. Arafat herself was in ruins.
On the morning of the seventh day since he left, Jude appeared from the moon. He has also missed the love of his life. He just wanted to make her feel the pain he had been going through each time she suspected that he was cheating on her.
Jude knocked on the door but there wasn't any response. He has been standing at the door for quite a while. As he turned the doorknob, it opened.
Hey, baby!!
He called from the doorpost as he emerged into the living room. With his eyes wide open, he couldn't imagine the ruins. Arafat was just there, drunk and lifeless. She has been shattered by his unannounced departure.
Jude hated himself. Had he known, he would have settled with her and not leave.
That night, he cleaned up the kitchen. It took him three whole hours to clean the kitchen up. He couldn't do anything to the living room except to take the mattress back to the bedroom lifted Arafat in his huge arms and lay her in the bed, and cover her with the duvet while she snored away in deep sleep.
They both slept side by side on the same bed. Jude woke up first and went straight to the kitchen to make breakfast. He ate as much as his stomach could take and made for Arafat too.
She woke up at midday with a hangover. The sound from the kitchen woke her alertness.
Who is there?
She called out but Jude didn't give any response. He was making jolt of rice.
How the heck did you get in?
Arafat queried as she leaned on the kitchen door, looking at Jude who was busy slicing onions.
Does that matter? I am in alread.
Arafat was going to start nagging again. She wanted to begin another scene. Jude knew her too well, he walked toward her and planted a kiss on her lips. She was going to resist him but he held her firmly. Arafat couldn't help herself, she had missed him greatly. She just gave in and replied with a deeper kiss and both of them kissed into the room, tearing into each other's body.
