Steam hissed out
From the dry pan heated on
The hotplate that burns with wire
Now the sound kept hope alive
My beads of hot sweat
Dropping like a pack of cards
Yes❗ My gluttony aggravated
Inspired by the hunger from days
When food was a luxury meant for a few
This displeasure came knocking on my taste buds
A wild daydream while my flat stomach flattened.
I don't want to wake up
Yet I knew it was not real
This tasteless fries are better
Much more than the hunger that hung
In my closet out there in the real world
Something I didn't want to put my weak soul through
Seeing those red beef on the pan
Made me remember the good old days
When everything was at my beck and call
I'd say to one, come and he comes
To the other, stay and he stays
All that now seem like a daydream
Those times are gone and never would they return.
Shall I continue to hope
For a release from this prison
One that I committed myself to?
Unless I am determined
This space may be my abode
For long time I may be tied
To the cross I placed on my shoulders
Out of sheer self-will to meet up
After all, life ain't a competition
Everyone can shine as space permits
You❗ Let it be, my daydream is my shine
That's where I get my encouragement
Please, permit me to dream on.
This poem is culled from the imagination that every home is a palace and the occupants are kings or queens in their own right. There is a stream of internal satisfaction every person gets and they differ from person to another. We should respect people for what they believe in and perspire to achieve.
