ROBBERS ROBBED BY ROBBERS!!!

Good morning friends!!

I am sorry for not being able to meet up with posting your favorite comedy blog yesterday. Sunday is the gig for but in life sometimes, you may be carried away by life's many activities. In those moments, my heart still remembered what I ought to do on a regular Sunday, writing a comedy blog. And like the day, it's better late than never.

My friends and I embarked on a journey to Asaba, in the south-south region of Nigeria on a weekend. It was to felicitate with our colleague at work who was getting married. Since the rich heritage of the Delta people is known, I decided I was not going to miss out on this. So, we started the journey by boarding a public bus from Sagamu in Ogun state. It was an eighteen-seater bus.

Unknown to all passengers, four guys who boarded the bus with us did so to rob all passengers of all their valuables before Ore in Ondo state. Throughout the journey, we were just discussing the state of our nation, especially the pain we suffer because of the removal of fuel subsidies which has resulted in the high cost of transport fares around the nation.

The trip was smooth until we arrived at a village before Ore and our bus was halted by a gang of robbers. One of the four guys spoke from the back seat

Espirito de corps

A slang that is used by security agents to pass one another on through the traffic and in case of emergency.
One of the robbers on the road who was wielding a locally made gun said:

We are on duty today, everyone will pay their dues.

It was then I knew that we were in for a serious deal. The robbers took their time, searched all the passengers, and robbed us of all our valuables, ranging from mobile phones to wristwatches to necklaces, purses, and cash. It was a successful operation. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Our driver was speechless. I noticed that he was still fidgety while driving, all I could do was to calm him down that everything was alright now. So, we all sat there, looking through the window, worried.

It was while we were still in this state that one of the guys spoke out and said that they wanted to alight from the bus at Ore, with the intention that when they robbed us, they would return to Ijebu-ode but now the table has turned. We have reached Asaba in Delta state and the robbers are still on the bus. This time, they had disposed of all their money and weapons too.

I know it would be wrong to say I pitied the robbers but the truth is that I felt for them but there was nothing I could do because their intention was not a good one. We all alighted from the bus and all the passengers went their different ways.

Since I was just having a stopover at Asaba to check on my siblings who live in Asaba, I was to return to Enugu in two days.

On the day I was to go to Enugu, I got to the motor park to board a bus en route to Enugu and I met another shock.

I saw two of the robbers sweeping the street and getting stipends from passers-by. And the other two were balling passengers into the traveling bus. I know, as the usual practice, they would get tips from the bus driver anytime the bus is filled and about to leave the park.

In my mind, I was just thinking:

See foxes in sheep's clothing.

Nobody would ever think those good-looking guys would even attempt to kill a fly, let alone robbing innocent travelers of their valuables. But I think they got what they deserved.

On the bus en route to Enugu, I sat and watched the guys as they got busy with their social work. For me, it's better than being a devil's incarnate.
