Good evening dear Hivans. It's my pleasure to bring you another episode of funny encounters during the week. Alright, this week it's going to be about a Nigerian comic actor who had to be amputated.
Mr Ibu is a well-known Nigerian comic or humor actor. Recently, he got very sick and had to be amputated. At first, he was managed by medical experts who were looking forward to ensuring that Mr Ibu's leg would not be cut off. But due to complications, the leg had to go.
A fundraiser was made for Mr Ibu. His role in the entertainment industry drew many to the fund raiser. However, one singular individual paid all the medical expenses but regrettably, Mr Ibu:s leg was amputated.
This evening, As I was scrolling through my Facebook page, I found a report that made me laugh.
A colleague of Mr Ibu, one Mr Charles Inojie, the producer and an actor in the tv series, The Johnsons*, visited Mr Ibu in the hospital where he is currently recuperating. And the following conversation ensued.
Mumu,what are you doing here?
Mr Ibu asked Charles, his friend who had come to pay him a visit.
Idiot, why would you allow the Aboki to cut your leg.
Charles replied to him. The whole hospital was gulped up in laughter as the two comic actors engaged in this verbal war.
Charles looked straight into Mr Ibu's eye to find where he got so much willpower to still crack jokes despite being under such pains. Someone whose leg was just amputated shouldn't be cracking jokes but the reverse is the case here.
You dey pity me? The doctors said I will still use the leg to walk despite that some flesh has gone out from it.
Mr Ibu said, trying to console those who had come to visit him at the ICU of the hospital.
When Charles could no longer bear the level of patience of Mr Ibu, he went closer and held him in his hands and asked that they pray.
The nurses on duty stood by and watched the two friends close their eyes while holding each other as Charles led the prayers.
As Charles made to utter the first word of prayers, beads of tears strolled down his cheeks as he began to cry uncontrollably. Mr Ibu saw him crying and joined the groove. The two adults cried like babies. Charles wiped his tears with the sleeve of his shirt.
After the prayer had been said, Charles asked Mr Ibu:
Mumu, why were you crying?
Everybody in the ward looked towards their direction again as Mr Ibu replied:
Idiot, I joined when I saw tears rolling down your cheek. I thought that you shouldn't do it alone.
Everybody in that ward laughed again.
What was amazing in this episode was how Mr Ibu made a joke of his own predicament. Something that was supposed to weigh him down. It is a good thing to have hope. And when there is life, there is hope.
