A few months ago I picked up these 1oz silver Buffalo Bars from Beck Gold bullion in Edmonton, AB Canada. The Buffalo Round design is common bullion minted by many companies.
Buffalo Round
The common buffalo bullion round is based on the original American Buffalo Nickel design that was minted from 1913 to 1938. The backside feature's an American bison, the front side is the representation of the head right side profile of an American Indian, derived from the likeness of Iron Tail and Two Moons. Both sides originally designed by James Earle Fraser in 1913. The original American Buffalo nickel (five cent) coin was made with 75% copper and 25% nickel. The design has been since used for precious metal bullion rounds, minted by various companies. Below is a typical 1oz fine silver Buffalo Round, no mint mark, I'm not even sure who minted these, I received them as a random round lowest cost dealers pick.
Silvertowne Buffalos
Silvertown Mint has produced 1oz fine silver Buffalo Rounds and Bars. They add an extra flair to their rounds with the feature design having a matte finish, and the text below the buffalo being stretched to fit.
The buffalo side of the bar features an American bison, with the text "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" at the top of the bar, and the text "IN GOD WE TRUST" at the bottom.
The buffalo side of the round has "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" along the top curve, "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (out of many, one) text is above-right of the bison, below.the bison is the text "1oz..999 FINE SILVER".
The back side of the Buffalo round features the Iron Tail and Two Moons 'American Indians' combined likeness right side face profile, design by James Earle Fraser. Along the top-right curve is the text "LIBERTY".
The back side of the bar has the text "LIBERTY" along the top edge of the bar, and the text "1oz .999 FINE SILVER" along the bottom edge of the bar.
The lower cost Buffalos are fine silver rounds and bars for the stack.
