The first time its failed me! Diaternatious earth for a wild dog.
Recently I adopted a dog that was being abused at the place Im living at. It had never been given a worming tablet which every puppy needs because it always has intestinal worms passed on from its mother.
I have always used Diaternatious earth (DE)
in the past and its worked a treat after 7 days of mixing it in the dogs water bowl and adding it to food. I got some DE from a friend a week ago, and have been giving it to the dog and I thought it had worked, until today when I saw live worms in its stool. These things are Hench, not even sure what type they are either. I ran out of DE yesterday, so I bit the bullet and just got back from getting a worming tablet from the vets.
What is DE?
Diaternatious earth is a powder of single cell organisms, meaning they are microscopic. Its actually the bones and skeletons of these tiny creature that acts as mini razor blades and cleans the system of animals and humans, dehydrating the parasite that have an exoskeleton and slicing them to shreds too.
If it was easy too, I would have gotten much more DE and carried on the treatment and I know it would have worked within another few days. she is a big dog but she is also seriously under weight. She is around one year old and weighs 23 kg and she should be weighing 33.5kg!!!!
It was a good decision to get the tablet and maybe I should have done it from the start, but I'm not a supporter of chemical medications when organic ones exist.
Training a wild dog
I was out walking the dogs last night and we came across a small fairground with noises and flashing lights. The dog hasn't had any experience being in a city and its already one years old and completely untrained. A guy saw me trying to get her used to lights and noises and commotion and doing basic sit training and he said "That dog is completely wild right?"
This breed, the Weimaraner has so much energy and a really mischievous character that she is keeping me on my feet for sure. I need to look on the map for a park somewhere to let her run around.
I like training dogs, young dogs like 4 to 8 months and then its done, they only need a reminder every now and then, but this time I'm trying one a grown dog and I notice the difference of compliance ahahha.
She is in the last stages of being on heat, and I wonder how she acts when her hormones are not running wild!
