This post for todays Fungi Friday is about a fungi i found on several different trees on one of my morningwalks. They were kind of hidden by growing pretty low next to the ground on the feet of some trees and one of them caught my eye because it was sitting there in the shadows lit only by just a few rays of sunlight that hit the corner of my eye while walking by. After shooting the first one i found two more on other trees and shot them too. Since those fellas seem to be pretty old and were covered in dirt from the trees and whatever else i couldn't figure out their original colors all i could find out about them was that they're some kind of tree sponge fungi. I'm pretty happy with the editing outcome of the photos and the mysterious little fantasy world look they got. Enough said, saddle your fantasy horse and go explore and enjoy the fantastic world of the tree fungi. As always, in case some of you recognizes the fungi and knows it's name feel free to correct me in the comments.

Now letβs look at the photos.
Hereβs the first fungi shot from the viewpoint that caught my eye. Do you see the little roof made of a cobweb?!
Let's check that one out from a different angle. I almost expected some little people or fairies to appear in this small world.
Let's get a little closer to the scene, shall we?! Behold the cobweb roof on top of the photo!
Here's a closeup shot of the little "fungi hutt" we saw from above. Behold how that branch on the left goes straight through the fungi and looks like it's a full grown tree next to the "hutt". I can almost hear the hobbits talking behind the hutt sitting at their fireplace.
Next up is a shot from an identical fungi on another tree just a few meters further down the path i was on. Here i had a clear view at the very clean bottom side of the fungi. Interestingly this one has a cobweb roof too.
Now here are two shots of the same fungi from different angles, again one from another tree i found much later at a completely different place on my morningwalk, but watch this, it seems pretty common for spiders to build their webs above those fungi.
I don't know what your fantasy lets you see here, but i see the entrance to the legendary Wood Kingdom inside the giant Sky-Crown-Tree that was thought to be lost in the great fires.
Thatβs it for today, enough tree sponge fungi fantasies for now. I hope you like these shadowy, mysterious fungi photos and leave a vote or maybe even reblog this post. Looking forward to see you come back for more fungi shots, bye.
