For my intro level engineering class I was tasked with creating a final project. For my project I chose to build a small scale aquaponics system.
An aquaponics system consists of a mutualistic relationship between the fish and the plants. The fish benefit the plants by providing them with food through their waste which is converted into vermicompost, and the plants filter the water for the fish.

It should be easy to see how it works in the pictures, but basically a pump is used to pump the water from the tank to the plant holder, and the water falls down the hole in the plant holder back to the tank.
