So todays casting could not have gone more wrong but i did end up with something random.
Well it all started a week ago when a friend asked me could i make him a copper torc and i said yeah sure why not, well this has been fraught with disaster.
So what went wrong? Well first of all a clip pinged off my mould and pissed molten copper on to my work bench which is now kinda scorched and then the gas ran out on my blow torch and then the crucible decided it was getting thin around the rim and i decided not to chance it so i switched to a smaller one. The final thing what went wrong was the copper cooled too quickly as my furnace only goes 15°c above the melting point of copper and didnt have the heat to fill the mould.
So what went right?
Well not much apart from i ended up with a random two pronged thingy mi jig with two deformed skulls at the bottom, i am gonna keep it as it looks funky as hell and i will print of some jolly roger flags as i think it looks like something that would be on the entrance to a pirate cove.
I think this is the end of me trying to cast copper and i will just keep going with gold and silver in the future.
