At some point in our lives, we must have made plans, set goals and given ourselves deadlines to meet these goals. But it usually doesn’t take long for us to realize that, setting goals is actually the easy part, achieving them? That’s the real deal. Have we ever wondered why it is that we sometimes fail to meet our targets despite our good intentions? Or you’ve been looking for ways to complete projects without elapsing your deadlines? Follow me in this post as I try to unveil as well as proffer solutions to some of the reasons why we fail to meet our targets.
It’s a no-brainer that one needs to dedicate a lot of his/her attention towards the success of one’s dream. But despite this glaring fact, many people find it hard to stick to their plan of action until the dream actualizes. Social media, TV, etc. are some of the many distractions we have to overcome if we really want to see our plans come to life.
There is a saying which goes thus; “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop”. Being idle is a very undesirable attribute to have in the journey to accomplishing set goals. Instead of being idle, we should spend our time thinking of how to develop plans that will help achieve the goal. No matter what, we should always ensure that we’re engaged in one way or the other. Keep going until you achieve that goal.
Yes, I know you have the mental capacity of Brainiac-5 and you can plan out a 10-year roadmap in your head, but more often than not, writing down the plans help greatly in reminding and keeping us focused on our goals. That way, we have something to fall back to in the case of us forgetting some of the things we’d planned already.
Don’t worry you don’t have to buy it and unlike most pills, this one isn’t bitter. I know we have a deadline to beat and time’s running out, but sometimes we need to slow down a bit. Rushing things might eventually cause more harm than good so it’s always advisable to take things slow.
All through this post I’ve been hammering on the need to have plans before venturing on any project. But inasmuch as having a plan is important, having one that is realistic is actually more important. Plan with the resources you have at hand.
We always promise ourselves that we’ll do it tomorrow but tomorrow never seems to come. We end up going back and forth, finding it hard to do things that really matter. Everyone knows procrastinating is bad but we still end up procrastinating anyways. It’s a normal thing for us to procrastinate. But just because it’s normal doesn’t mean it’s right. Procrastination can be a major barrier towards achieving goals. Combating procrastination is pretty straightforward but not simple. It takes a level of self-discipline and years of hard work to effectively overcome it. Just as I’d said earlier, taking it one step at a time is the ideal way to go about things. You don’t need to travel 100 miles at a go if you know your gas can only take you for 20. You need to take small breaks to refuel and before you know it, you’ll get to your destination.
Do you have more practical tips that I might've failed to mention here? do well to list them out in the comment section.
That will be all for now. Thank you for making it this far.
