Hello Hive
It is a good thing to pay close attention to our kids especially the girl child at puberty. We must learn to teach them good grooming and how to protect their bodies especially the sensitive parts of their bodies.
Most mothers neglect this, which often leads to the children having body odor or some form of abuse in the future.
We know just how important it is for us to change our underwear every day; hence, the supply of toiletries and underwear should be prioritized for our growing girls.
Lately underwears have become really expensive, and while I passed by and priced a bra for my sister, a single one is now sold for $2, something we have often bought for $0.5 or less. Panties and tights are sold for about the same price.
My baby girl will be needing several changes for these underwear; hence, I have to make provisions for her. Having bought some bralettes for her, I decided to consider sewing the rest, which will be cheaper for me.
I have envied those who know how to sew their own underwear in this community. A lot of our ladies know how to sew bralettes, pants, and the likes. I have hoped to look up at their tutorials or YouTube videos; maybe they could be of help.
In the meantime today I recycled one of my blouses into an inner wear for her. The blouse is no longer useful as before, and instead of discarding it, I will be making a useful shirt from it.
It doesn't matter if you are wearing colorful underwear or not; no one is going to see them, as the most important thing is that you have your body covered.
I started with cutting off the hands and the lace parts on the neck.
Then folded the body and included the waist, hip , crotch, and thigh measurements.
After cutting this, I decided to add the lace parts to the hemming as against where it was in the neckline if the dress and as sleeves; it will give this comeliness on the hemming.
For the stitching, I started with stitching the lace to the hemming before I stitched the crotch areas and then opened up the tight to stitch both legs separately.
Since I didn't have a ribbon at home to attach to this; I cut out a bias strip and stitched it to one side of the shirt to differentiate the front from the back each time she attempts to wear this.
It was her perfect fit, and she was happy to have yet another undergarment. Hopefully we will see more of these in the coming days. If underwear gets really expensive, it is a signal that we should get into some DIY.
