A happy new week to us all, I pray that the new week brings good fortune our way. So yesterday was a Sunday and this was exactly how my friend had rock her beautiful blouse on a skirt to church. She had earlier sewn this outfit as a Christmas outfit before the zipper got bad and she equally wanted some finishing touches that will make the dress more attractive
By the time I was through with the dress this is how beautiful it came out. Let's get to the making process.
I started by removing the former bad zipper here, ripping off the seam lines.
After a closer look I realized that the old zipper wasn't a decorative one. There are different kinds of zipper and they vary in size and function. Ordinary zipper like this one I removed if often the commonest ones used on clothes but if you want a zipper to serve as both a fastener and for decorative purpose you can use this decorative zipper here.
This decorative zipper can be used for outfits to be worn for special occasion. Hence I decided to buy the zipper sold for $1 on the dress, since it is a special dress that she loves so much.
Mind you, there is a special way you have to learn about how to fix this zipper. Rhinestones have been used to embellish the zipper and while stitching, none of the rhinestone case must break.
You can see the very part I am pointing to here, if the sewing needles pierces through any of these to break it, the zipper would be of no use again. Be careful to sew very close to the zipper lines but not on any of these teeth.
Next I was able to get some cheap net lace material that was pleated and sewn to the princess dart lines of the blouse here.
Sometimes it is usually very beautiful to cover up the dartlines of the outfits we make with some embellishments of either lace materials, or tulle or rhinestones. It's a form of embellishments that makes clothes really beautiful rather than living visible seam lines on an outfit
This little finishing touches made her blouse comely and my friend couldn't stop thanking me enough.
I'm so happy to have made her Sunday. I'm just not sure if she took a picture of herself in the dress but I actually do love the design myself.
